Andrew Buchanan has more than 25 years experience in broadcast programming, operations and management, including leadership of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's 58 station radio network as General Manager Local Radio and administration of the ABC's International Development department with training consultants in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and South Africa. He has special expertise in staff motivation and facilitating corporate change.

1992-97 Management of the output and operation of the ABC's 58 local radio stations throughout Australia, including nine metropolitan and 49 regional stations, Rural specialist broadcasting and 'Australia All Over'.

Leadership of 500 decentralised staff around Australia and a budget of $40 million.

Initiated joint venture with Charles Sturt University providing indigenous undergraduates with specialist broadcasting training as part of a cultural heritage studies course. Also:

Some Career Highlights

Managed and led the Transition Team (1991) to move 1200 staff into new ABC Ultimo Centre in Sydney, believed to be a world first for such a highly computerised broadcast building.

Facilitated Leadership Seminar for Australian Rural Woman of the Year Award with 41 regional winners in 1995 & 1996.

Awarded the Public Service Medal in the 1995 Australia Day Honours.

Conducted Management Training Consultancy in Papua New Guinea 1991 & 1992, Canada 1993, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos in 1997.

Hosted and made presentations to visiting ministerial, parliamentary and government delegations from countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, China, Japan, Taiwan and South Africa.
